The Senior Director of Marketing is responsible for building the Sequenom business by leading all marketing activities and spearheading the strategy and tactics to drive increased penetration into new and existing markets for our Genetic Analysis business. This position reports to the SVP of Genetic Analysis, and will own all Marketing activities and provide critical input into the R&D planning processes to ensure successful new product introduction and life cycle management.


Job duties include but are not limited to:

•Leading the product marketing team in creation of effective marketing message and literature pieces

•Creating targeted sales tools including case studies, presentations, positioning and pertinent training programs for sales teams

•Leading the creation, implementation and content of marketing Road Shows

•Developing and closing sales by participating in strategic and high-level customer sales opportunities

•Developing and executing, in cooperation with R&D and operations, field based Voice of Customer (VOC) program for existing customer base and industry thought leaders

•Identifying and establishing key customer collaborations in order to drive sales tools, publications and marketing literature for critical market opportunities

•Acting as primary marketing point of contact for field organization in gathering marketing intelligence and providing customer feedback to corporate marketing, R&D and operations

•Providing input to senior management and participate in defining strategic direction

•Participating in evaluation of 3rd party technologies for potential partnerships and/or acquisition



•Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences required; Ph.D. or equivalent in related scientific field highly preferred

•10+ years of experience in sales support and/or marketing in genetic analysis or life science marketplace or related field; preferably with DNA Microarray technologies, gene expression analysis, Real-time PCR, genotyping and sequencing

•Extensive experience supporting sales organizations by providing sales tools, market campaigns, and  marketing communication support

•Experience holding intermediary roles between sales, product marketing and R&D

•Experience managing Product Managers in a matrix organization

•Deep knowledge of genetic analysis industry and driving enabling technologies into associated Academic, Pharma/Biotech and Clinical markets

•Skilled at developing sales tools, campaigns, marketing literature, messaging and associated sales training programs
